FreeBSD 4.5 + nttcp でネットワークのベンチマーク

はじめに

http://www.jp.freebsd.org/cgi/print-QandA.cgi?QandA=58 に、いろいろ面白いことが書いてあったので、私が持っている NIC と nttcp を使って状態を見ていました。

nttcp の使い方

FreeBSD 4.5 に、/stand/sysinstall で一発インストール。

で使い方は、
パケットを受ける側で、受ける準備をします。

# nttcp -i
投げる側で、以下のように投げます。以下は、hoge に対して投げている設定。
# nttcp -T hoge
T オプションは、結果のタイトルを表示しています。-t オプションで送信テスト、-r で受信テストもできます。

評価環境

評価環境は以下のとおり。

結果

2002/08/19 追記
Switching HUB に COREGA FSW-8L を使った時、Ether Express Pro/100+ の送信が遅いので、 Alied Telesis FS708E と交換してみたら、問題ありませんでした。 相性?

で、測定結果を見ると、eden + VT6102 から送信すると、他の場合と比べてCPUを消費していることがわかります。 ここで http://www.kobe1995.net/~kaz/FreeBSD/ether.html で言っている通りの結果ですね。

カニの PCI-TXSは、それほど悪い結果にはなりませんでした。
