FreeBSD 4.4 + VIA EPIA-E533(Eden)

はじめに

以前から気になっていた VIA Eden の EPIA-E533(EPIA-5000) がリリースされたので、早速購入しました。 2002/05/03 時点、Twotop仙台店 で \13.800 でした。

小さいのね

まず、箱が小さい。中身も小さい。FDコネクタが無い。かっこいいです。

ケースは買っていないので、寄せ集めで作りました。といっても、組み立てではないので配線しただけです。

FreeBSDをインストール

とりあえず、以下の構成で FreeBSD 4.4 をインストールしました。
  • キーボード
  • 電源
  • IDE HDD
  • IDE CD-ROM
  • PC133 128MB
  • Ethernet ケーブル
  • CRT ケーブル
  • Power ON SW

さくっと FreeBSD 4.4 をインストール完了。設定はこれぐらい。

  1. telnet できるようにして
  2. 自動シャットダウンできるようにして
  3. 起動ディレィ時間を短くして

一度 shutdown -h now して以下の構成に変更。

  • 電源
  • IDE HDD
  • PC133 128MB
  • Ethernet ケーブル
  • Power ON SW

ちなみに、この構成の dmesg はこんな感じ。

ここの表(http://www.orange.co.jp/~masaki/rc5/ratej.html)と比べると、K6-2 400MHz ぐらいなのかな〜。

サウンド

EPIA-E533(Eden) には、Onboard で VT1612A が載っています。 pcm device で動きそうなので、インストールしてみます。

SOUND のインストールは、このページを見てね。

で、再起動後の dmesg には以下のように表示されます。

cat /dev/sndstat すると、以下のように出力されます。

mpg123 でちゃんと聞こえました。

TV-OUT

オンボードでTV-OUT可能なので、古い14インチ型テレビに接続してみます。 TV出力する場合は、ジャンパ J11 を 1-2 にする必要があります。工場出荷時は 3-4 。 すごくつかみづらいところにあるジャンパを切り替えて、こんな感じにします。(左が3-4、右が1-2)

で、映像ケーブルをテレビのビデオ入力に接続。

FreeBSD を起動させると、これまでの CRT には表示されず、テレビの方に表示されました。 でも、すっごく見づらいです。
